5 ways to visit Nice sustainably!
As you know, our team in Nice is committed to offering you the most sustainable trip possible. To underline this commitment, the hotel has been in the process of obtaining the Clef Verte label since April 2024, the first sustainable tourism label for tourist accommodation and restaurants in France. Here, the team shares its 5 tips for enjoying Nice as gently as possible: transport, wildlife, getting around the city, Blue Flag beaches, etc. Are you ready?
Coming to or leaving Nice by train… at night?

If you want to reduce your carbon footprint when coming to Nice from Paris or visiting the capital after your stay on the Côte d’Azur, the first thing to do is to take the train. It’s true that Nice airport is right in the centre of town and is very well served by European low-cost airlines, but travelling by train means cutting your emissions by a factor of 20! By travelling by train, you can easily reach other French cities (3 hours from Marseille, 4h30 from Lyon, where you can also stay at Slo Lyon Saxe or Slo Lyon les Pentes).
If you’re travelling to or from Paris, why not try a night train? For a few dozen euros, let yourself be transported while you sleep and wake up on the other side of France!
In Nice, there’s nothing like getting around by bike to discover the city!

In Nice, you’ll find a number of self-service bike stations throughout the city.
Two of them are close to Slo Nice:
- Station 124 at 46 Boulevard Rimbaldi
- Station 63 at 11-17 Rue Emma et Philippe Tiranty, next to the Jean Médecin Monoprix.
There are also two self-service bicycle operators: Lime and Pony.
To hire these bikes, all you have to do is download the mobile application of the operator you want, then follow the instructions to unlock the bike using a QR code!
For travellers who want a bike for a day or several days, you can turn to bike hire companies:
- Holland Bikes Tours & Rentals – Nice at 2 Rue Blacas
- Mobilboard at 2 rue Halévy
To discover the jewels around Nice: take the TER or the Bus!

The Gare Thiers, less than 10 minutes walk from the hostel, is the perfect place to catch one of the many TER trains that run all over the Côte d’Azur on the Zou rail network. Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, Menton and even the magnificent Esterel massif are all easily accessible by train for a day’s getaway.
Another idea for using public transport: to get to St Jean Cap Ferrat, to Paloma beach, for example, couldn’t be easier! Take the bus! Walk from the hostel to the T1 tram stop at Thiers station, get off at Garibaldi and take the n°15 bus: in an hour you’ll be right in the water in one of the most beautiful coves on the Côte d’Azur! It’s easy, cheap and environmentally friendly – perfect, don’t you think? Calculate your bus itinerary on the Lignes d’Azur public transport website for Nice
If you’ve come by electric car, recharge near the hostel!

There are several sockets in the area, less than 15 minutes’ walk from Slo Nice:
- 18 Avenue Notre-Dame
- 20 Avenue Désembrois
- 28 Avenue du Marechal Foch
- 6 Rue Assalit
- 27 Boulevard Raimbaldi

Raising awareness of the incredible biodiversity in Nice Metropolitan Area

Keep your eyes peeled as you stroll through the Nice metropolitan area! More than 6,000 species have been recorded in 3 geographical areas: the Mediterranean, the Pre-Alps and the Alps! We recommend that you read the very interesting studies published by the Conservatoire d’Espaces Naturels de Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (CEN PACA), with the support of the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux PACA (for birds) and the Conservatoire Botanique National Méditerranéen de Porquerolles (for flora).
