Where is the hostel located and how do I get there?

Check-in is from 3pm on.
Check-out is by 11am.
If you are arriving before this check-in time or leaving after this check-out time, you
may put your luggage in our luggage storage area.

 

 

From Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport: 
Rhone Express tram shuttle > Gare Part Dieu Villette (terminus), then Line B metro towards Gare d’Oullins > get off at ‘Saxe Gambetta’. The hostel is a 4-minute walk
from here.
To do this trip in an Uber will cost you 45 to 50€

From Lyon Perrache train station:
A 30-minute walk
Public transport: T1 tram towards IUT Feyssine (15 mins) > get off at ‘Guillotière
Gabriel Péri’ The hostel is a 4-minute walk from here.

From Lyon Part dieu train station:
A 26-minute walk. Public transport : Line B Metro towards Gare d’Oullins > get off at ‘Saxe Gambetta’ (4 minutes).

From Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport :

Perrache. Get off at ‘Hôtel de Ville’ (5 minutes’ travel)

SLO Lyon Saxe is located right in the city centre. It will take you 13 minutes to walk to Bellecour.
6 minutes will be enough to walk to the banks of the Rhône and 25 minutes will get you to the old town (Vieux Lyon)

SLO Lyon Les Pentes is located in the heart of the city centre on the Presqu’île.
You’ll need just 3 minutes to walk to the banks of the Rhône
15-minute walk to Vieux Lyon and an 18-minute walk to Bellecour

The hostel is open 24/7. We will have someone at reception to check you in

Yes. The communal areas, toilets and bathrooms and all bedroom types (dormitories and private bedrooms) are accessible to People with Reduced Mobility.

How do I make or manage a booking?

Yes, you’ll always find our best prices on our website and the cancellations and changes terms and conditions are more flexible than on Booking or Hostelworld.

We offer two different tariffs:
The flexible tariff may be cancelled and refunded up to 24 hours before your arrival
Non-refundable tariff: this tariff may not be cancelled or changed.

If you made your booking on Hostelworld, Booking or another partner network, their terms and conditions will apply.

The whole of your stay will be cancelled, regardless of its duration, and payment will be taken from you. If you still want to come during this period, you’ll have to make a new booking, which will be subject to availability.

Yes. It’s 0.83€ per person, per night and it’s included in the tariff.
Minors under 18 do not have to pay tourist tax

Yes, you’ll always be asked for a valid debit or credit card to guarantee your booking and for use as a security deposit against damages.

Yes, you must have some sort of official, valid ID as you will be asked to show it
(ID card, passport, residence permit)

Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), cash (euros) and ANCV holiday vouchers.
Cheques are not accepted.

Yes, as long as each booking is not longer than seven nights and your respect Hostel Rules and Regulations. The maximum length of time you can stay at a SLO hostel is 7 nights.

Bookings for unaccompanied minors (under the age of 16) are not accepted.
Minors aged from 16 to 18 must be able to show they have their parents’ permission in writing. They must also have a copy of the adult signatory’s ID.
Minors under 16 years old travelling with their parents are only allowed in dormitories booked on an exclusive use basis or in private rooms.

How are the hostel’s bedrooms laid out?

Yes, sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases will be on your bed when you arrive.

Yes. In dormitories, you can hire a towel for 3.50€ per person, per stay.
Towels are provided in private bedrooms.

Yes, at SLO Lyon Saxe most dormitories are mixed sex.
There is one shared bedroom for 6 people reserved for women.

At SLO Lyon Saxe, there are several shared bathrooms and toilets in the establishment. All of them are mixed sex. Some double rooms have an ensuite shower and/or toilet.

No, there is no air conditioning in the establishment. Some bedrooms are equipped with a ceiling fan. Small fans are available for rent at the reception.

What are the practicalities of a hostel stay?

Yes, you can purchase the late check-out option for 5€ and have your room until 1pm on the day of your departure.

Yes, at SLO Lyon Saxe, we have a free, secure left luggage storage facility.
Yes, at SLO Lyon Les Pentes, we have an automated luggage locker facility (0.20€ per hour for small bags and 0.40€ per hour for larger luggage).

Yes. You cannot book a stay longer than 7 consecutive nights.

At SLO Lyon Saxe, only into the communal areas. People without a valid booking are forbidden to enter the bedrooms.

At SLO Lyon Les Pentes, people who are not sleeping at the hostel may be invited into the communal areas and dining areas by clients with a valid booking currently staying at the hostel. However, people without a valid booking are forbidden to enter the bedrooms.

Yes, if you’ve made a joint booking.
If you’ve made several separate bookings, contact reception and they will do their best to try to put the different bookings in the same dormitory.

Yes, a cot may be hired for 10€ per stay. Please call reception in advance to book.
We provide books, games and colouring-in resources for your children.

No, unless it’s a guide dog for the blind and visually impaired.

A 5€ fee will be charged to your credit/debit card

Contact the hostel by email or telephone. Please describe the object that’s been lost, the day and time in question and give your room number.
We will send you back the item if it’s found. You will have to pay package and postage.

The hostel is open 24/7. We will have someone at reception to check you in

There is no curfew. Once you’ve checked in, you can come and go as you please.

In the dormitories: there are individual lockers. You can bring your own padlock or buy one from reception for 6€.
At reception: there is a safe where you can leave small personal items for free (passport, cash). There is also a luggage storage area.

Yes, good quality padlocks are sold at reception for 6€ each.

Yes, the entrances and exits, the communal areas, the terrace and the reception area are covered by CCTV 24/7 for your safety and peace of mind.
